Read time: 2 minutes
The point of this post is to lay down the groundwork for all upcoming post on how we're going to help you improve your golf game and help you feel better after you're done playing 18 holes.
When it comes to coaching here at COVAL, one of our principles is "position dictates function."
What this simply means is that your body will use specific muscle groups, put stress on specific joints, and produce specific outcomes based on what position your joints are in either when start in or can get yourself into after initiating the movement.
For instance, maybe your low back and lateral (outside) portion of your left knee ache after playing 18. There's a reason for that. The level of demand on those areas is too much and the response is achiness and pain after you're done playing. We could go into why that is, but that's a whole other blog post.
The point is to help you understand how your joint position can dictate how you execute and what the outcome is.
This is key to helping you understand that with some of the exercises & lifts that we will cover, may not focus specifically on one area to get change in that one particular area. We will focus on other areas that effect that specific area so that we can move better, feel better, and perform better.
You will see an example of this in our next blog post!
